One of the best kept secrets in the music
business is singer/songwriter Chris Himel. For Over 15 years Chris has been
writing and playing the local scene in Louisiana. In February, 2003, he released his first
album, "One For Me". In 2007, he released his second album, "The Other
Half". All the songs on both albums were written and produced by Chris.
Chris was born and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana. Growing up
there, he was introduced to a variety of music and culture. From country to
classic rock, from cajun and zydeco to rhythm and blues. These styles can be
heard in his music. Some of his influences include: Conway Twitty, Merle
Haggard, Elvis Presley, Tim McGraw, Keith Whitley, Hank Williams Jr, Garth Brooks, and The Eagles.
Chris
always showed interest in music, and at the age of 21 he decided to pursue it.
He showed interest in the piano, so he bought a $79 keyboard and started
teaching himself. He also had friends that played in local bands, that helped
him learn. Not long after he started learning how to play music, his creative
side became involved. He started experimenting with writing his own music. Along
the way, he picked up on guitar. Since then, he's written and co-written over
100 songs. He's played in such bands as: Square Deal, Double Shot, Heartland,
Damon Troy and Louisiana Beat, Mudslide, 2 for the Road, and Diamondback.
In 2007, along with a new CD, he formed the new band "OUTBOUND" and hasn't
looked back.
